Course, part of the nerves is wondering if its all gonna work.  I personally have several techniques to settle the "what if this is a flop?" feeling: 

1. At night I separate my head from my body so my muscles get there proper rest. 

2. I say out loud, to myself, 7634 times an hour--> "things cant go bad, Eric Reingold is in the band." and finally

3. Somersaults.  

Thanks to the confidence in my band members and my love of the jam,  the real excitement is knowing that all the folks that do come will feel that same excitement, as we somehow magically transform music into dance-antical fun, ---->A World Of Make Believe.   Hope to see you there family friends and fans---I'm out

NIFTY)  which in turn was also the beginning of me being a drummer as i had never done such craziness before.  So reflecting on the past 2 years has been fun, with just over a buck fity shows to look back on I can say this. 

Setting up and breaking down drums, and then the work to keep them operating in a pro fashion was a bit of a shock to the system.  But that would be the only downside, and even now its all part of the process.  Lets see,  I have lost over 40 pounds since taking the drum roll.   Met some amazing people,   and functionized so many cool vibes i would have never normally attended.  And now I have a strong music family with the drive to keep the music bond strong. 

Also in March is my 2 year anniversary with my fiance, who has helped with the person aspect of improvement.  So shout out to March and happy 2 years of sweet sugary awesomeness!!  

Random---Also in the last 2 years I have managed to stay at the same address, become obsessed with pretty Peggy Pepper, started using breathy nose strips for sleepy time,  finally was able to formulate an opinion on whats better, PS3 or XBOX,  and if you drive me we can legally park in in handicap spots.  HAPPY SPRING PEOPLE!!!     jamasceo ]]>Tue, 22 Feb 2011 09:15:11 -0800http://www.jamantics.com/1/post/2011/02/the-ramblings-of-a-singing-drummer.html Hearing and being heard are vastly different concepts when you are a singing drummer.  I have to put faith in the qualified people responsible for the being heard part. But hearing has always been a sore spot for me in the sense that I was so used to not hearing myself that I guess I never knew any different. 

In the last 2 years of playing in Jamantics I can count on 2 hands the times I could genuinely hear the things i am supposed to.   This has always been a topic among us as we struggle to give, and play our best as performers.  Not hearing takes away from that "best" every time.  So in my mind I have rarely lived up to my potential as a musician and performer.  UNTIL NOW...    

Just recently Jamantics helped themselves with this issue by acquiring a sound system that has boosted what we hear as a band, and for me, solved an issue that has realistically been holding me back.  I would like to personally thank JR (3entertainment) Reingold-Lucas-Jordan-Freeland for pulling together and making something great, better.      

I would also like to mention, that after the use of this new system for the last 2 shows, I personally felt WAY better, and can hear the improvement within myself, and if I'm not mistaken it will do the same for the rest of the guys...  Jamantics better??  come hear for yourself.            Jamasceo

Yes, an upright bass. I am psyched about it too. Unfortunately, a little while ago I was grilling on my front deck, as I often do, and playing my upright bass, which I dont do enough. As I took my food off the grill for eventual insertion into my mouth, I heard a bang and a crash (included with these sounds were a couple twangs).

The beautiful, resonating, tasty and, perhaps least important but most relevant, expensive bass, had been blown by  a black-throated wind off my porch, down the steps, to crash into many pieces on the cement.

It was the worst day of my life.

Recently, though, Jordan introduced a possible glimmer of hope. Perhaps my friend will be resurrected from certain doom to make an appearance at an upcoming show. Perhaps not.

If you dont-- you should, because they make life (my life, at least) much more interesting. And i am not talking about that day once a year where Jesus dresses up like a rabbit.

You can find them everywhere. Books, pictures (recently The Mona Lisa was found to have some very interesting ones) and once in a while a really cool website will have them too.

As this site builds, we plan to be dropping Easter eggs in strategically placed locations-- with the hopes that only the dedicated will find them, and hopefully with some cool rewards associated with them. Good luck.
